Floods devastate Severn and Avon

Just weeks ago, the predator fishing grapevine was buzzing with news Britain's first 20lbs-plus zander had been caught from the Severn.

Over the weekend, the river has been ravaged by the worst floods in more than 50 years.

Fish stocks are certain to be devastated by storm surges which have seen the river burst its banks from Upton downstream to Tewkesbury.

appeared on the front pages of many of today's newspapers.

Zander record smashed with first twenty

Britain's first documented 20lbs-plus zander has been caught on a pellet hookbait intended for bream. James Benfield smashed the 19lbs 5oz record with a 21lbs 5oz fish from the River Severn, Angling Times reports.

EA seeks anglers' views on River Severn

EA officials are seeking anglers views over the future management of the River Severn, FISHINGmagic reports. Pike anglers believe fishing in this once-great Midlands river has declined dramatically over the last generation.
